A tender, emotional romance about rescue, redemption, and the love that heals them both.

She’s spent her life surviving. He’s spent his trying to save everyone else.
When their paths cross, both will learn that love can be the most dangerous — and most beautiful — act of all.

At twenty-three, Bethany Anderson has no one left to depend on. Between her double shifts at the hospital and her lonely attic room, life is a constant struggle just to stay afloat. But when illness and exhaustion finally bring her down, fate steps in — in the form of Dr. Smith Barington, a brilliant but guarded man haunted by his own past mistakes.

What begins as compassion soon deepens into something neither expected. Smith’s fierce need to protect Bethany draws him closer than he knows is wise — and when he finds her homeless, he takes control of her future, finding her a safe position at the prestigious Prescott Manor.

Surrounded by new friends and fresh beginnings, Bethany starts to build a life she never dreamed possible — until jealousy, rumor, and heartbreak threaten to tear it apart.

Caught between gratitude and forbidden love, Bethany must decide if she can trust her own heart — and if Smith’s protection is the shelter she’s always needed, or the one thing holding her back.

His to Protect by Stacei Fox is a deeply tender, emotionally resonant romance that explores what it truly means to feel safe, seen, and valued after a lifetime of survival. This is a story rooted not in dramatic spectacle, but in quiet moments of care, restraint, and earned trust. It is a clean romance that never feels sanitized or emotionally shallow. Instead, it leans into vulnerability, trauma, and healing with a sincerity that lingers long after the final page.

At its core, His to Protect is about two people who have spent their lives giving until there was nothing left. Bethany Anderson has survived through endurance. Smith Barington has survived through responsibility. Their meeting does not immediately ignite fireworks, but rather creates a slow, steady warmth that grows as both characters learn to rest in someone else’s presence.

Bethany is one of the most heartbreakingly realistic heroines in contemporary romance. At twenty-three, she is exhausted in a way that goes far beyond physical fatigue. Orphaned young, burdened by poverty, and forced into relentless self-reliance, Bethany lives in survival mode. She works double shifts, accepts mistreatment without complaint, and constantly minimizes her own needs because she has learned that asking for help rarely ends well.

Fox writes Bethany’s internal world with remarkable empathy. Her exhaustion is not romanticized. Her struggles are not exaggerated for dramatic effect. They feel painfully real. The fear of missing rent, the anxiety of illness when you cannot afford rest, and the quiet shame of being unseen are all depicted with nuance and respect. Bethany does not see herself as strong, but the reader cannot help but recognize her resilience in every choice she makes.

Smith Barington enters Bethany’s life not as a savior, but as a man who notices. That distinction matters. Smith is a successful doctor with wealth, authority, and resources, but he is not portrayed as flawless or emotionally detached. He carries his own scars, particularly the unresolved guilt of having lost his mother to illness and poverty when he was young. That loss shaped him into a man who believes that protection is both duty and penance.

Smith’s instinct to protect Bethany does not stem from dominance or control. It comes from recognition. He sees in her the same quiet suffering that once consumed his family, and he refuses to look away. What makes Smith compelling is not his power, but his restraint. He consistently checks himself, questions his motives, and ensures that his help does not strip Bethany of her agency.

Their relationship unfolds slowly, built on observation, respect, and trust. Fox excels at writing emotional pacing. Smith does not immediately insert himself into Bethany’s life. He notices her kindness with patients. He defends her professionally without humiliating her. He offers help without demanding gratitude. Each step feels earned.

One of the most powerful aspects of His to Protect is how it handles caretaking without romanticizing imbalance. Smith provides safety, medical care, and eventually stability, but Bethany is never reduced to a passive recipient. She questions his actions. She resists when she feels her independence slipping away. She wrestles with the discomfort of accepting help after years of being self-sufficient.

Their emotional tension does not come from misunderstandings or forced drama. It comes from fear. Bethany fears dependence because she has been abandoned before. Smith fears failing someone again. These internal conflicts drive the story far more effectively than any external antagonist could.

Fox also handles the age gap and power imbalance with care. Smith is older, wealthier, and professionally influential. The narrative never ignores this reality. Instead, it confronts it head-on, allowing Bethany to assert boundaries and Smith to demonstrate accountability. His protectiveness is not romanticized as possession. It is shown as something that must be balanced with consent and respect.

The setting plays an important role in reinforcing the novel’s themes. From Bethany’s freezing attic room to the warmth of Smith’s home and the elegance of Prescott Manor, physical spaces mirror emotional states. Shelter becomes symbolic. Safety is not just a place, but a feeling that must be cultivated.

Prescott Manor, in particular, represents a turning point in Bethany’s life. It is not simply a new job or a better living situation. It is a place where she is valued for her work, welcomed as a person, and allowed to imagine a future beyond survival. Fox uses this transition to explore what happens when someone who has lived in crisis mode is finally allowed to rest.

The supporting characters enrich the story without overshadowing the central romance. Mrs. Garcia adds warmth, humor, and maternal grounding. Zara Prescott represents opportunity without condescension. Even minor characters are given enough texture to make the world feel lived-in and believable.

What truly elevates His to Protect is its emotional honesty. The story does not suggest that love instantly heals trauma. Bethany does not become fearless overnight. Smith does not shed his guilt easily. Healing is portrayed as incremental and ongoing, shaped by patience rather than grand gestures.

The romance itself is gentle, restrained, and deeply affecting. Physical attraction exists, but it never overtakes emotional intimacy. Moments of closeness feel earned because they are rooted in trust rather than impulse. A hand on a shoulder or a quiet reassurance carries more weight than overt passion ever could.

For readers accustomed to high-drama romance, this book may feel quieter. That quiet, however, is its strength. It allows space for reflection, for emotional buildup, and for a deeper connection to the characters. The stakes are not world-ending, but they are profoundly human.

As a clean romance, His to Protect proves that emotional intensity does not require explicit content. The chemistry between Bethany and Smith is palpable precisely because it is restrained. Their bond is built on mutual care, shared vulnerability, and the courage to let someone else matter.

By the end of the novel, the transformation is subtle but powerful. Bethany does not become someone else. She becomes herself without fear. Smith does not relinquish his instinct to protect. He learns how to protect without controlling. Their love is not flashy, but it is enduring.

His to Protect is a story about second chances, but not in the dramatic, cinematic sense. It is about the quiet second chances that happen when someone chooses to notice, to stay, and to care consistently. It is a reminder that safety can be radical, that kindness can be transformative, and that love does not need to be loud to be life-changing.

For readers who enjoy emotionally rich romance grounded in realism, compassion, and slow-burn connection, this book is a standout. Stacei Fox delivers a story that feels both intimate and expansive, proving that sometimes the most powerful love stories are the ones that simply ask, “What if someone took care of you, just because you mattered?”

Here are the five best things about His to Protect

1. A Deeply Compassionate, Realistic Heroine

Bethany Anderson feels achingly real. Her exhaustion, quiet resilience, and fear of dependence reflect the lived experience of someone who has spent years surviving without support. Her strength is subtle and earned, which makes her growth emotionally powerful rather than idealized.

2. A Protective Hero Who Respects Boundaries

Smith Barington embodies protectiveness without slipping into control. His desire to help Bethany comes from empathy and shared pain, not ownership. The story thoughtfully explores how protection can exist alongside consent, agency, and mutual respect.

3. Emotionally Rich Slow-Burn Romance

The romance develops through trust, observation, and shared vulnerability rather than instant attraction. Small gestures carry enormous emotional weight, making the connection between Bethany and Smith feel sincere, tender, and deeply satisfying.

4. Healing Portrayed as Gradual and Honest

The novel never suggests that love instantly fixes trauma. Healing unfolds slowly, with setbacks and uncertainty, reinforcing the realism of both characters’ emotional journeys. This makes the story comforting without being simplistic.

5. Powerful Impact Without Explicit Content

As a clean romance, His to Protect proves that emotional intimacy can be just as compelling as physical passion. The chemistry is rooted in care, safety, and emotional connection, allowing the story’s heart to shine without relying on explicit scenes.

Handsome Devil by L.J. Shen is the darkest, most psychologically charged entry in the Forbidden Love series to date. Where the previous books explored desire, restraint, and emotional risk, this installment plunges unapologetically into obsession, power, and moral corrosion. It is a story that dares the reader to sit with discomfort, to question attraction, and to examine how love can grow in the most hostile conditions imaginable.

At the center of the novel is Gia Bennett, a woman whose strength is quiet, relentless, and earned through years of endurance. Gia is intelligent, capable, and deeply loyal, especially when it comes to her family. Her devotion to her mother, who suffers from advanced dementia, is the emotional anchor of the story. Everything Gia does is filtered through this responsibility. She works tirelessly, suppresses her own desires, and accepts indignities that would break most people, all in the name of protecting the last remaining member of her immediate family.

Opposite her stands Tatum Blackthorn, a man who is introduced not as a romantic hero, but as a force of destruction. Tate is cold, sadistic, calculating, and openly contemptuous of nearly everyone around him. He is powerful beyond measure, both financially and socially, and he wields that power with chilling precision. From the opening chapters, it is clear that Tate operates according to his own internal logic, one that prioritizes control, efficiency, and personal gratification above morality.

The relationship between Gia and Tate begins in outright hostility. He is her employer, her tormentor, and her constant adversary. Their interactions are defined by verbal sparring, psychological warfare, and an unspoken tension that neither of them is willing to acknowledge openly. Tate humiliates Gia, tests her boundaries, and deliberately destabilizes her sense of security. Yet Gia refuses to break. She bends, adapts, and survives, meeting his cruelty with sharp intelligence and defiance that fascinates him far more than submission ever could.

What makes Handsome Devil so compelling is its refusal to sanitize this dynamic. L.J. Shen does not pretend that Tate’s behavior is acceptable, nor does she rush to redeem him. Instead, the novel forces the reader to grapple with the reality of a relationship built on imbalance. Tate has money, power, and leverage. Gia has love, resilience, and moral clarity. Their eventual marriage is not born from romance, but from desperation and negotiation, a transactional agreement that places Gia’s body and future on the bargaining table in exchange for her mother’s survival.

This marriage of convenience is one of the most unsettling elements of the story, precisely because it is framed as a choice rather than overt coercion. Gia is technically free to walk away. Yet the cost of doing so is unthinkable. Shen explores this gray area with brutal honesty, asking difficult questions about consent, sacrifice, and agency. Gia’s decision is not romanticized. It is portrayed as painful, humiliating, and terrifying. At the same time, it is undeniably brave.

Tate’s obsession with Gia is deeply rooted in control, but it evolves in ways that surprise even him. He is drawn to her defiance, her intelligence, and her refusal to worship him. She challenges his worldview simply by existing outside his expectations. As the story progresses, cracks begin to form in Tate’s armor, revealing a man shaped by violence, abandonment, and an upbringing that stripped him of empathy long before adulthood.

Shen handles Tate’s psychological unraveling with care. His internal monologue is chilling, often detached from conventional morality, yet it is precisely this detachment that makes his eventual emotional shifts feel earned. Tate does not become kind. He does not become gentle. What he becomes is aware. Aware of his need for Gia. Aware of the emptiness beneath his cruelty. Aware that control without connection is meaningless.

Gia’s growth throughout the novel is equally compelling. Marriage to Tate does not diminish her. If anything, it sharpens her resolve. She establishes rules, demands boundaries, and refuses to surrender her identity, even as she lives under his roof and name. Her intelligence becomes her weapon, her composure her shield. Shen portrays Gia as a woman who understands the cost of survival and pays it consciously, without illusions.

The Mafia elements woven into the plot add another layer of danger and unpredictability. Tate’s entanglement with organized crime escalates the stakes, transforming personal conflict into life threatening consequences. Violence is not abstract in this story. It is present, immediate, and often shocking. Shen does not shy away from depicting brutality, but she uses it purposefully, reinforcing the sense that this world is not safe and never pretends to be.

Despite its darkness, Handsome Devil is not devoid of intimacy or emotional depth. In fact, the rare moments of vulnerability between Gia and Tate carry enormous weight precisely because they are so hard won. A shared glance, a quiet confession, or an act of protection resonates more deeply than grand declarations ever could. Love here is not soft or pure. It is fierce, possessive, and deeply flawed.

The pacing of the novel is deliberate, allowing tension to build gradually. Shen gives readers time to sit with discomfort, to question their own reactions, and to confront the unsettling truth that attraction does not always align with morality. This is not a story that seeks approval. It challenges the reader to keep reading even when it would be easier to look away.

As the third installment in the Forbidden Love series, Handsome Devil expands the thematic scope of the world Shen has created. It examines the extreme end of forbidden relationships, where power, obsession, and survival collide. While it can be read as a standalone, it gains additional resonance for readers familiar with the series, particularly in how it reframes the concept of love as something dangerous and transformative.

By the time the novel reaches its conclusion, the reader is left with complicated emotions. There is no neat resolution, no illusion that love has erased trauma or cruelty. What exists instead is an uneasy equilibrium, forged through pain, sacrifice, and mutual recognition. Shen allows her characters to remain flawed, refusing to grant them easy absolution.

Ultimately, Handsome Devil is not a romance meant to comfort. It is a romance meant to unsettle. It explores how love can emerge in the most toxic environments and asks whether survival and connection can coexist when power is unevenly distributed. L.J. Shen delivers a fearless, provocative story that will not be for every reader, but will deeply impact those willing to engage with its darkness.

This book is a testament to Shen’s ability to push boundaries and challenge genre expectations. It is raw, intense, and unapologetically disturbing at times, yet it is also emotionally complex and unforgettable. Handsome Devil cements itself as the most daring entry in the Forbidden Love series and a defining example of dark romance done without compromise.

The post Handsome Devil first appeared on Aireona.

Wildest Dreams by L.J. Shen is a bold, emotionally layered romance that fully embraces its title. This novel dives headfirst into desire, chaos, and vulnerability, delivering a story that is as sharp and provocative as it is unexpectedly heartfelt. As the second installment in the Forbidden Love series, it raises the stakes both emotionally and narratively, offering readers a relationship built on tension, temptation, and the dangerous thrill of wanting what you should not have.

At the center of the story are Dylan Casablancas and Rhyland Coltridge, two characters who feel combustible from the moment they share the page. Their dynamic is rooted in long standing animosity, unresolved attraction, and proximity that refuses to give either of them room to breathe. Dylan is a single mother trying to rebuild her life after disappointment, abandonment, and a series of choices that forced her to grow up faster than she ever wanted. She carries responsibility like armor, protecting her daughter with ferocity while quietly denying herself any sense of desire or indulgence.

Rhyland, on the other hand, is the embodiment of excess and recklessness. He is unapologetically indulgent, emotionally detached, and painfully aware of the power he holds over others. He thrives on chaos and pleasure, using charm and arrogance as both shield and weapon. As the best friend of Dylan’s brother, he exists firmly in the category of forbidden, not only because of social rules but because he represents everything Dylan believes she should avoid. That tension is not subtle, and L.J. Shen does not try to make it so.

What makes Wildest Dreams compelling is how unapologetically messy it allows its characters to be. Dylan is not written as a saint or a martyr. She is overwhelmed, exhausted, and often insecure. Her internal monologue reflects the reality of a woman who feels trapped between responsibility and resentment, longing and guilt. Her love for her daughter is absolute, but that love does not erase her loneliness or her frustration at a life that feels smaller than it should.

Rhyland is equally flawed, though in different ways. He is self-aware enough to recognize his moral shortcomings, yet rarely interested in correcting them. His worldview is transactional, shaped by years of indulgence and emotional detachment. Yet beneath the bravado lies a man deeply uncomfortable with intimacy that cannot be controlled. His attraction to Dylan threatens that control, forcing him into emotional territory he would rather avoid.

The fake relationship trope is used as a narrative catalyst rather than a gimmick. What begins as a mutually beneficial arrangement quickly spirals into something far more volatile. Shen excels at showing how blurred lines form when physical desire and emotional need collide. The characters may insist on rules, boundaries, and temporary terms, but the emotional undercurrent is impossible to ignore. Every interaction crackles with tension, layered with sarcasm, resentment, and unspoken longing.

One of the novel’s strongest elements is its treatment of power dynamics. The age gap, the difference in life experience, and the imbalance between emotional availability and detachment are all acknowledged within the story. Shen does not romanticize these imbalances without consequence. Instead, she explores how they complicate consent, vulnerability, and trust. Dylan is keenly aware of the risks involved in giving any part of herself to Rhyland, while Rhyland struggles with the reality that control does not equal safety.

Motherhood is woven seamlessly into Dylan’s arc, not as a limitation but as a defining part of her identity. Her daughter is not a background prop or a convenient plot device. She is central to Dylan’s decisions, fears, and sense of self. This grounding presence adds emotional weight to every choice Dylan makes, particularly when desire threatens to pull her in directions she believes she cannot afford to explore.

Shen also uses humor effectively throughout the story, often through biting banter and sharp internal commentary. The dialogue between Dylan and Rhyland is fast-paced, confrontational, and frequently laugh-out-loud funny. This levity provides balance to the heavier emotional moments, preventing the story from becoming overly grim while still allowing space for vulnerability.

The pacing of Wildest Dreams is deliberate, allowing tension to build rather than explode prematurely. Emotional beats are given room to breathe, and moments of connection are often followed by doubt or self-sabotage. This push and pull reflects the characters’ internal struggles and reinforces the central theme of wanting something that feels dangerous precisely because it is real.

L.J. Shen’s writing style remains confident and unapologetic. She leans into morally gray territory without offering easy justifications or tidy resolutions. Characters make questionable decisions, say the wrong things, and hurt each other, sometimes unintentionally and sometimes not. That messiness is part of what makes the story feel honest. Love here is not presented as a cure-all, but as a risk that demands accountability.

The forbidden aspect of the romance is not limited to social rules. It extends into emotional territory that both characters fear. For Dylan, loving Rhyland means risking stability and control. For Rhyland, caring for Dylan means confronting parts of himself he has long avoided. Their relationship becomes a mirror, reflecting fears neither of them wants to face alone.

As a second book in the Forbidden Love series, Wildest Dreams stands confidently on its own while also expanding the emotional landscape of the series. It reinforces the idea that forbidden love is not just about circumstance, but about internal resistance to vulnerability and change. Shen continues to explore how love often arrives in forms that challenge identity rather than affirm it.

By the time the novel reaches its later chapters, the stakes feel earned. Emotional growth is hard won, and resolution feels like the result of effort rather than fate. Shen allows her characters to struggle, to fall short, and to choose again, which gives the conclusion its emotional impact.

Overall, Wildest Dreams is a provocative, emotionally intense romance that will resonate with readers who appreciate flawed characters, sharp dialogue, and stories that refuse to sanitize desire. It is unapologetically adult, deeply character-driven, and emotionally charged, delivering a love story that feels as reckless as it is sincere. Fans of L.J. Shen’s signature style will find everything they love here, while new readers will be introduced to a romance that is bold, raw, and impossible to ignore.

The post Wildest Dreams first appeared on Aireona.

Beneath the Surface, the fourth installment in Emily McIntire’s gripping Sugarlake Series, delivers one of the most emotionally powerful and suspense-driven stories in the series. This novel centers on healing, redemption, and the unavoidable pull of the past, offering a deeply human exploration of what it means to rebuild a life after surviving trauma.

At the heart of the story is Lily Adams, a woman who has fought hard to reclaim control of her life. Having escaped a painful history and achieved sobriety, Lily is determined to provide stability, safety, and unconditional love for her son. Her strength is quiet but unwavering, and McIntire portrays her journey with sensitivity and respect. Lily is not defined by her past mistakes, but by the choices she continues to make every day to be better, stronger, and present for her child.

That fragile sense of peace is disrupted when Mason Wells enters her life. A private investigator sent by Lily’s brother to track her down, Mason initially approaches the situation as just another job. He believes distance and professionalism will protect him from emotional involvement. However, as he begins to observe Lily’s life more closely, it becomes impossible to ignore her resilience, her devotion as a mother, and the profound growth she has achieved. What begins as surveillance slowly transforms into connection, forcing Mason to confront feelings he never expected to have.

Mason is a compelling and layered character in his own right. Burdened by secrets and haunted by choices from his past, he carries a weight that mirrors Lily’s own struggles. His internal conflict is one of the novel’s strongest elements. He is torn between loyalty to the job he was hired to do and his growing desire to protect the woman he is falling for. This moral tension adds depth to his character and elevates the romance beyond a simple love story.

The relationship between Lily and Mason unfolds gradually, rooted in trust, understanding, and shared vulnerability. Their connection feels organic and emotionally earned, shaped by quiet moments rather than grand gestures. McIntire excels at showing how two people with broken histories can find comfort in each other without erasing the pain that shaped them. Their romance is not about rescue, but about mutual support and the courage to believe that happiness is still possible.

Suspense plays a significant role in the narrative, adding urgency and unpredictability to the story. As Mason’s past begins to surface, the looming threat introduces real danger and raises the stakes for everyone involved. McIntire weaves this tension seamlessly into the emotional core of the novel, creating a balance between heart-pounding moments and introspective character development. The result is a story that keeps readers engaged both emotionally and narratively.

Sugarlake itself continues to be a vital presence in the series. Its small-town charm, close-knit community, and long-held secrets create a rich and atmospheric backdrop for the unfolding drama. McIntire captures the town’s dual nature beautifully, showing how it can be both a place of comfort and a reminder that the past is never truly buried. This setting enhances the story’s themes and grounds the characters in a world that feels real and lived-in.

Beneath the Surface is ultimately a story about second chances and the enduring power of love and forgiveness. It explores the idea that healing is not linear and that redemption is found not in perfection, but in persistence. Lily’s journey as a mother and survivor is deeply moving, and Mason’s struggle to reconcile who he was with who he wants to become adds emotional complexity to their shared story.

McIntire’s writing is evocative and emotionally rich, capturing both the tenderness of quiet moments and the intensity of looming danger. Her characters are flawed, relatable, and deeply human, making it easy for readers to become invested in their journeys. The novel leaves a lasting impression, offering hope without minimizing the work required to heal.

This installment is a standout addition to the Sugarlake Series and will resonate strongly with longtime fans. At the same time, its compelling premise, layered characters, and blend of romance and suspense make it accessible to new readers. Beneath the Surface is a powerful reminder that even after everything is lost, it is still possible to rebuild, to love, and to find light beneath the weight of the past.

The post Beneath the Surface first appeared on Aireona.

Beneath the Hood, the third installment in Emily McIntire’s Sugarlake Series, transports readers from the small-town familiarity of Sugarlake to the dazzling, high-pressure world of Hollywood. Beneath the glittering lights and curated perfection, however, lies a deeply emotional story about identity, vulnerability, and the courage it takes to be seen for who you truly are.

At the heart of the novel are Jackson Rhoades and Blakely Donahue, two people who appear to live on opposite ends of the spectrum, yet are united by loneliness, emotional scars, and the desire for something real. Jackson arrives in Hollywood chasing a dream job, but also running from the heartbreak and memories he left behind. Outwardly charming and steady, he carries the weight of his past quietly, determined to rebuild himself without looking back. Hollywood represents both opportunity and escape, a chance to redefine himself in a place where reinvention is the norm.

Blakely, on the other hand, already lives in the spotlight. As a nineteen-year-old social media influencer adored by millions, her life looks effortless and enviable from the outside. But McIntire skillfully peels back the layers of Blakely’s online persona to reveal a young woman crushed under the pressure to perform perfection every day. Her worth is measured in likes, comments, and engagement, leaving little room for mistakes or authenticity. Despite constant attention, Blakely is profoundly alone, struggling to reconcile who she is with who the world expects her to be.

Their connection begins under complicated circumstances. Jackson is tasked with keeping a watchful eye on Blakely, a responsibility that places him in close proximity to her life and her vulnerabilities. The age difference and the forbidden nature of their growing attraction add undeniable tension, but McIntire handles this dynamic with care, emphasizing emotional connection, boundaries, and internal conflict rather than sensationalism. What draws them together isn’t rebellion or recklessness—it’s recognition.

Jackson sees Blakely beyond the filters and followers, recognizing the exhaustion behind her smile and the insecurity she tries to hide. Blakely, in turn, finds comfort in Jackson’s steadiness and sincerity. With him, she doesn’t have to perform or pretend. Their interactions become a refuge from the relentless expectations placed upon them, offering moments of quiet honesty in a world obsessed with appearances.

One of the novel’s greatest strengths is its exploration of the darker side of fame and social media culture. McIntire doesn’t glamorize influencer life; instead, she exposes its isolating effects, particularly on someone so young. Blakely’s struggle to maintain an image of perfection highlights how easily self-worth can become entangled with external validation. In contrast, the relationship she develops with Jackson emphasizes emotional intimacy over optics, grounding the story in a powerful message about authenticity.

Jackson’s arc is equally compelling. His journey isn’t about saving Blakely, but about confronting his own unresolved pain and learning that running away doesn’t heal old wounds. Through their connection, he’s forced to examine his fears, his sense of responsibility, and what he truly wants from life. Their relationship challenges both of them to grow not by changing who they are, but by accepting themselves more fully.

McIntire’s writing is emotionally rich and engaging, seamlessly balancing the vibrant energy of Hollywood with deeply introspective character moments. The setting enhances the story without overpowering it, serving as a backdrop that amplifies the characters’ internal struggles. The pacing allows the relationship to unfold naturally, giving readers time to understand both Jackson and Blakely as individuals before fully investing in their romance.

Ultimately, Beneath the Hood is a story about peeling back layers of fame, of self-protection, of fear to find something genuine underneath. It’s a poignant reminder that perfection is an illusion, and that true connection is found not in flawless images, but in shared vulnerability and understanding.

This installment is a standout addition to the Sugarlake Series, offering a fresh setting while staying true to the emotional depth readers have come to expect. With its compelling characters, thoughtful exploration of modern relationships, and heartfelt message about embracing imperfection, Beneath the Hood is both heartwarming and thought-provoking. It’s a must-read for fans of the series and anyone who loves romance that blends emotional realism with a touch of Hollywood glamour, leaving a lasting impression long after the final page.

I wasn’t looking to change my “bad boy of baseball” reputation. At least not until my dream girl, Pop Princess Alexis Bodega, stepped foot in my clubhouse to sing for the stadium on opening day.

There’s just one problem, and it’s a big one. Her manager is also her boyfriend, and her father is her agent.

She’s kept on a tight leash with her incredibly busy schedule, and I’m at the start of a new baseball season with a new team.

It’s the worst time to explore this attraction with the wrong girl, but that doesn’t stop me from fighting my way backstage at her surprise performance in Vegas and slipping her my number.

I quickly discover that nothing is what it seems where her manager is concerned. The more I learn about America’s Sweetheart, the more I realize what the world knows of her is the carefully crafted façade of her brand…not the woman behind it all.

A positive pregnancy test and a baby daddy who thinks we should move in together is not how I planned my last semester of college. Yet, here I am.

People have babies and raise them in separate homes every day. Our situation should be no different, but when the father of my baby makes me an offer I can’t refuse, I find myself sleeping in the softest bed of my entire life.

I find myself dreaming of a life I’d thought I’d never have.

I come home to a man who can’t wait to see me, who spoils me, and who does everything he can to make a loving home. It’s possible we can be a real family.

But here’s the thing, if an unplanned pregnancy taught me anything, it’s that change can happen all too quickly. Even when it comes to love.

This internal conflict resonates deeply, reminding us that even amidst life’s greatest joys, the pursuit of individual identity and fulfillment remains a vital and often challenging journey.

Rogers’ writing style is both engaging and immersive.

“Crossed,” the fifth complete standalone novel in the Never After Series by Emily McIntire, presents readers with a captivating and dark reimagining of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Father Cade Frédéric is a man of the cloth, dedicated to his faith and the church. Despite his upbringing in the streets of Paris, he has devoted his life to righteousness. However, beneath his holy exterior lies a darkness—a sickness that consumes him and drives him to rid the world of evil. When he is appointed as the priest in Festivalé, Vermont, a town shrouded in despair, Father Cade feels the pull of his sickness, urging him to confront the darkness that plagues the town.

Amaya Paquette is a mysterious and alluring figure in Festivalé. She cares for her younger brother by day, but by night, she transforms into Esmeralda, captivating audiences with her dance. Despite her longing for love, Amaya keeps her distance from others, fearing the pain of abandonment.

When Father Cade crosses paths with Amaya, he is immediately drawn to her, convinced that she possesses witchcraft powers. Despite his vows of piety, he finds himself consumed by thoughts of her, unable to resist the temptation she represents.

As their forbidden attraction grows, Father Cade becomes determined to rid himself of the temptation Amaya presents, even if it means destroying the only woman he may ever love.

“Crossed” is a gripping contemporary romance that delves into themes of temptation, desire, and the battle between light and darkness. McIntire skillfully blends elements of romance and suspense, creating a story that will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very end.

I’ve devoured the entire Never After Series, and they are all fantastic! Yet, this book, alongside “Hooked,” stands out as a favorite. You will NOT be disappointed!

Cade and Amaya epitomize the essence of unconditional love. Amaya’s unwavering devotion to Quin is as it should be. This powerful life story captivated me, and I absolutely loved this book.

First and foremost, make sure to read the trigger warnings for this book. While not much typically phases me, some intense topics in this book left me feeling a bit queasy at times. This is undoubtedly the most gruesome installment in the Never After Series, but don’t let that deter you. If you’re not affected by the trigger warnings and can handle gore, it’s an incredibly compelling read. It’s a modern retelling of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.” Though I’ve never seen the movie, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It reminded me a lot of “Priest” by Sierra Simone but is much darker.

I absolutely LOVED this one. I wasn’t a huge fan of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” growing up, so I was initially hesitant about reading “Crossed.” However, I approached it with an open mind and was utterly pleased. Cade’s physical and mental portrayal is beautifully crafted, and the heat in this book—whew, LAWDDDD!! I love all of Emily’s books, and with each one I read, I’m continuously blown away!

As the fifth installment in the Never After Series, “Crossed” offers readers a compelling and immersive reading experience. McIntire’s evocative prose and complex characters make “Crossed” a must-read for fans of dark romance and fractured fairy tales alike.

The post Crossed first appeared on Aireona.

“Twisted,” the fourth complete standalone novel in the Never After Series by Emily McIntire, offers readers a captivating and dark reimagining of the classic tale of Aladdin.

Yasmin Karam, the daughter of a wealthy and powerful man, has lived a life of privilege and luxury. However, when her father falls ill and expresses his wish for her to marry a man of his choosing, Yasmin’s world is turned upside down. Despite her father’s wishes, Yasmin’s heart belongs to another—a servant and street rat whom her father would never approve of. Desperate to fulfill her father’s final wish while following her own heart, Yasmin strikes a dangerous deal with Julian Faraci, her father’s right-hand man, unaware of his hidden agenda.

Julian Faraci is driven by ambition and power. Determined to become the most powerful man in the world, he will stop at nothing to achieve his goals, even if it means manipulating those around him. When his mentor falls ill and threatens to disrupt his plans, Julian sees an opportunity to secure his future by forcing Yasmin into marriage, regardless of her feelings or desires.

Yasmin and Julian are at odds with each other, each viewing the other as the villain in their own story. Yet, despite their animosity, Julian is determined to make Yasmin his, using any means necessary to convince her to comply with his wishes.

Julian is unhinged in the best way. He commands power with a ruthless edge: you don’t touch what belongs to him, interfere with his plans, or question his authority. He craves the empire, the power, and most of all, Jasmine, the boss’s daughter.

Jasmine is the daughter of the most powerful jeweler in the business. With her father on his deathbed, his final wish is to see her married. But he disapproves of her current, seemingly unimportant boyfriend. Enter Julian, who devises a cunning plan to take over the empire by marrying Jasmine and convincing her father it’s true love.

This marriage of convenience is packed with banter, lust, and a “touch her and die” intensity, not to mention a giant python for a pet and a scorching hot coffee table scene.

“Twisted” is a gripping contemporary romance that explores themes of love, ambition, and manipulation. McIntire skillfully weaves together a tale of forbidden love and dark desires, keeping readers on the edge of their seats with unexpected twists and turns. With its morally complex characters, intense plot twists, and richly developed setting, “Twisted” offers readers a fresh and compelling take on a beloved fairy tale.

As the fourth installment in the Never After Series, “Twisted” promises readers a riveting and unforgettable reading experience. McIntire’s evocative prose and expert storytelling make “Twisted” a must-read for fans of dark romance and fractured fairy tales alike.

Twisted had me absolutely hooked! I’m obsessed with the entire Never After series, and this one might just be my favorite. But every book and audiobook in the Never After series is fantastic. Emily McIntire never fails to make me fall in love every time I read her work, and the ending of this book was phenomenal! I highly recommend both the book and the audiobook to ensure you don’t miss a moment.

The post Twisted first appeared on Aireona.

In “Bound By The Past,” the seventh captivating installment of Cora Reilly’s Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles series, readers are drawn into a world of loyalty, betrayal, and the complexities of love.

Dante’s life is a tale of betrayal. As a member of the Outfit, he has committed countless acts of violence in the name of loyalty to his organization. But beneath his hardened exterior lies a man tormented by his own choices. Despite swearing allegiance to the Outfit and putting its interests above all else, Dante is repeatedly drawn to women who threaten to unravel everything he has worked to protect. With each betrayal, Dante wonders if his actions will ultimately lead to the downfall of the Outfit and the destruction of everything he holds dear.

Dante epitomizes the quintessential mafia leader: respected and feared, ruthless yet composed. Known as the Ice Man, his mere name sends shivers down the spine of his adversaries. His formidable reputation, crafted meticulously since his youth, is whispered about across the nation. But beneath this hardened exterior lies Dante’s unexpected vulnerability—his deep affection for the women in his family, his secret Achilles’ heel.

This book masterfully portrays Dante, not just as a Capo but as a man torn between his duty to the Outfit and his love for his family. The narrative dives deep into the paradox of a man who can order death with ease yet struggles profoundly with personal betrayals. When secrets begin to surface, those close to him are forced to reevaluate their loyalty, presenting a complex dynamic rarely explored with such depth in mafia narratives.

Dante’s wife, Valentina, vowed on their wedding day to stand by his side through all of life’s challenges. Raised in the mafia, she understands the complexities of their world and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold their family’s honor. But when Dante’s actions threaten to tear their family apart, Valentina faces difficult choices that could jeopardize everything they hold dear.

As Dante and Valentina navigate the treacherous world of the mafia, they must confront their pasts and come to terms with the consequences of their actions. With the fate of their family hanging in the balance, they must find a way to reconcile their love for each other with the demands of their dangerous world.

Cora’s writing has fueled my obsession with the mafia genre, blending intense family drama with high-stakes criminal intrigue. Remarkably, this installment allows readers to see a softer side of Dante, especially in his interactions with his children—offering a rare glimpse of tenderness from a man of power.

The plot intricately weaves together the stories of Dante and other key characters, expanding on their backgrounds and presenting new challenges threatening their delicate power balance. The portrayal of Dante’s internal conflict and his consequential actions adds layers to the narrative, making it a compelling read.

The book is a riveting blend of suspense, humor, and emotional turmoil. It’s a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, laughing one moment and teary the next. This book is a must-read for anyone drawn to tales of the mafia, complete with complex characters and a gripping storyline. Dante and Val’s story, along with their endearing children, enrich the narrative, making it not just about crime but about family, loyalty, and survival.

“Bound By The Past” is a gripping tale of love, loyalty, and the power of redemption. With its richly drawn characters, intense emotional drama, and pulse-pounding suspense, this novel keeps readers on the edge of their seats until the very end. It delivers a satisfying conclusion to Dante and Valentina’s story while leaving them eager for more from the Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles series.

For those enthralled by the dark allure of mafia stories, this book is a brilliant addition to the genre. It entertains and immerses you in a world where every decision can mean life or death. It’s one of the finest mafia tales I’ve encountered, a perfect blend of action and emotion that leaves readers both satisfied and eager for more.

The post Bound By The Past first appeared on Aireona.

In “Bound By Love,” the sixth enthralling installment of the Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles series by Cora Reilly, readers are plunged into a world of passion, betrayal, and loyalty.

Aria never expected to find love with Luca, the formidable Capo to whom she was given in marriage. People assumed he would break her, and Aria herself feared the worst from a man known for his ruthlessness and lack of mercy. Yet, against all odds, she discovers that she has gained Luca’s love—a love that defies the expectations of their world.

For Luca, love is a weakness, a vulnerability that a Capo like him cannot afford to risk. But despite his reservations, he finds himself falling for Aria in ways he never thought possible. Her strength, her courage, and her unwavering loyalty to him touch something deep within him, awakening emotions he never knew he was capable of feeling.

However, when Aria’s actions betray Luca’s trust, she realizes the devastating consequences of her choices. She must grapple with the realization that she may have jeopardized the love she fought so hard to attain—the trust of a man who has never allowed himself to trust anyone unconditionally before. As they navigate a world fraught with danger, betrayal, and death, Aria and Luca must confront their demons and decide whether their love is strong enough to withstand the trials that lie ahead.

This book skillfully interweaves the narratives from previous installments, giving us crucial insights into Aria and Luca’s perspectives on pivotal events. It’s refreshing that revisiting earlier plot points didn’t feel redundant. The honeymoon and birthday celebrations were standout moments, sparking pure joy. The narrative illustrates Aria’s significant influence on Luca while also highlighting her need to cultivate greater trust in her husband. This theme extends to her interactions with her sisters, where impulsive actions lead to unforeseen consequences, such as Fabiano’s situation, revealing a naive disregard for their father’s true nature. The core message is the vital role of communication in Aria and Luca’s marriage, with both parties needing to mature in their responses to conflict, rather than resorting to drastic actions like visiting a strip club or acting unilaterally in anger.

Dante’s inclusion serves as a critical mirror to Aria, reflecting the depth of her impact on Luca’s feelings and decisions. This installment bravely tackles Luca’s infidelity, offering a deeper exploration of Aria’s internal turmoil and the couple’s path to resolving this issue, showcasing significant growth in both characters. The book takes a darker turn, loaded with unexpected developments, and concludes with a perfectly executed cliffhanger that leaves readers eagerly anticipating what’s next.

“Bound By Love” is a gripping tale of passion and redemption set against the backdrop of the treacherous Mafia underworld. With its complex characters, emotional depth, and heart-pounding suspense, this novel captivates readers from beginning to end, weaving a spellbinding story of love, loyalty, and sacrifice.

The post Bound By Love first appeared on Aireona.

The age-old story of hating my job was nothing new. Many lived it. Many had experienced it. So going into work that day just felt like any other dreaded day at the office. That was until there was him. A thief who stole more than gold that night.

A thief who stole my heart. But I was about to learn how risky that truly was. Because Ryker Wyeth wasn’t just any thief. He was dangerous one. And now, after the chaos he unknowingly released upon my life that night, I was left with only one option… To run.

To run from my crimes. To run from the lasting memory of his kiss. However, there was one problem with that plan. Ryker Wyeth was Greedy for more. And for this dangerous thief in the night…
He always got what he wanted. And what he wanted now, was me. Which meant not only running from the law, but now I was also running from… A Demon’s Greed.

“Greed’s Siren,” the fifth book in Stephanie Hudson’s Lost Siren Series, ventures further into the darkly enchanting world Hudson has masterfully crafted, introducing readers to a new, gripping narrative infused with danger, desire, and the inexorable pull of destiny. As the series progresses, Hudson continues to expand the supernatural universe with intricately plotted stories that explore the complexities of love and power through the lens of mythological and demonic influences.

The protagonist of “Greed’s Siren” starts her tale with a relatable sentiment—the dissatisfaction and monotony of daily work life. However, her world is turned upside down by an encounter that transcends the ordinary, plunging her into a narrative woven with danger and dark allure. Ryker Wyeth, a thief whose actions set off a chain of events far beyond mere burglary, emerges as a central figure, embodying the chaotic interplay between mortal and supernatural realms.

Ryker is not just any thief; he is a figure shrouded in mystery and danger, whose very existence challenges the protagonist’s understanding of the world and herself. The theft of her heart is symbolic, marking the beginning of a tumultuous journey that forces her to confront the depths of her desires and the shadowy corners of a world ruled by demonic forces. Hudson adeptly captures the intensity of their connection, crafting a narrative that is as much about the theft of tangible treasures as it is about the theft of one’s soul and the quest for redemption.

The protagonist’s decision to run, to flee from the chaos unleashed by Ryker’s actions and the law that seeks to hold her accountable, sets the stage for a story of flight and pursuit. Yet, the realization that Ryker is driven by a greed that transcends mortal greed complicates her flight, introducing a dynamic of predator and prey where the lines are blurred by passion and a shared destiny.

Hudson’s narrative flourishes in its exploration of “A Demon’s Greed,” delving into the themes of avarice and the lengths to which individuals will go to possess what they desire most. The characterization of Ryker as a figure greedy for more than just gold—greedy for the protagonist herself—raises questions about the nature of desire, possession, and the possibility of love in a world where power imbalances are as pronounced as the divide between human and demon.

As the fifth installment in the Lost Siren Series, “Greed’s Siren” promises readers a journey that is both exhilarating and introspective. Hudson’s writing continues to enchant with its blend of suspense, romance, and a richly imagined supernatural world. The evolving relationship between the protagonist and Ryker serves as a compelling narrative thread, weaving together elements of danger, seduction, and the undeniable pull of a love that defies the boundaries of the human and demonic.

“Greed’s Siren” is a captivating addition to Stephanie Hudson’s Lost Siren Series, offering a fresh perspective on the themes of greed, desire, and the quest for belonging in a world where love battles the darkest of forces. As the story unfolds, readers are drawn deeper into the labyrinthine world Hudson has created, eager to discover the fate of a woman caught between the law and a love that promises salvation or damnation.

The post Greed’s Siren first appeared on Aireona.

I tried to hide from the truth and that didn’t work. I tried to run from him, and that definitely didn’t work. So what was next for me but to try and work off my punishment. One that ended with me sacrificing my own heart the second his Lost Siren finally walked into his life. The one I found for him.

Hence this being my cue to leave. My cue to run and never look back. That had been the plan and the promise he made...to let me go. A promise he quickly broke. Because Kaiden Wrath was not the type of Enforcer to let go of what he wanted and what he wanted…was me. The Author of his story.

But now, the biggest question of all remained, Would our ending be the Happy Ever After my heart hoped for or was it doomed to be…

The post Emme’s Enforcer first appeared on Aireona.

“Emme’s Enforcer,” the fourth book in Stephanie Hudson’s enthralling Lost Siren Series, is a masterful continuation of a saga that has captivated readers with its complex characters, darkly enchanting world, and the poignant exploration of love’s power to both save and doom. This installment delves deeper into the tumultuous relationship between Emme, the author inadvertently entangled in her own narrative, and Kaiden Wrath, the formidable Enforcer whose destiny is irrevocably linked with hers.

From the outset, Emme’s struggle to escape the consequences of her unwitting entanglement in the supernatural world sets the tone for a story rich in emotional depth and existential dilemma. Her journey is marked by attempts to flee not just from Kaiden but from the truth of her own heart—a truth that becomes inescapable when confronted with the reality of the Lost Siren, the character she created, and the woman Kaiden deems his destiny.

Kaiden Wrath, as a character, is explored in all his complexity—his dominion over dark forces juxtaposed with his vulnerability in matters of the heart. His initial promise to release Emme, a vow made perhaps in a moment of underestimating his own desires, becomes the crux of their conflict. Hudson skillfully navigates the intricacies of power, desire, and the quest for autonomy, framing Kaiden’s refusal to let Emme go as both a testament to his love and a potential curse to their shared future.

“Emme’s Enforcer” is as much a tale of individual self-discovery as it is a story of two souls bound by fate yet divided by circumstance. The narrative is imbued with questions of free will versus destiny, the ethical implications of creation, and the lengths to which one would go to protect, or possess, the object of their affection. Through Emme’s eyes, readers experience the harrowing realization that love, in its most intense forms, can be both salvation and sacrifice.

The world Hudson has crafted becomes even more vivid and intricate in this installment, with the supernatural elements serving not just as a backdrop but as vital components of the story’s emotional resonance. The inclusion of otherworldly politics, ancient prophecies, and the moral ambiguities of the characters’ actions add layers of complexity to the narrative, challenging both characters and readers to reconsider their notions of good and evil, right and wrong.

“Emme’s Enforcer” is a poignant addition to the Lost Siren Series, offering a narrative that is both hauntingly beautiful and deeply tragic. Stephanie Hudson weaves a tale that is unafraid to explore the darkness inherent in love’s extremities, promising readers a journey that is as thought-provoking as it is emotionally compelling. As the saga of Emme and Kaiden unfolds, one is left to ponder the ultimate question: Can a story born from the depths of imagination and the chaos of desire find its way to a happy ending, or is it doomed to be a demon’s tragedy?

The post Emme’s Enforcer first appeared on Aireona.

Writing down your dreams…that sounded pretty harmless right?
Turned out, I was sort of good at it. Turned out, it made a good book. Because who knew you could make money from writing about the man of your dreams.

Who knew it would pay to fantasize about a fictional character you had fallen in love with. But most of all, who knew that one day a set of doors would open, and you would find out that he wasn't fictional at all. That he was real.

I had no idea writing could be so dangerous but then when you’re writing about a Demonic Overlord, an Enforcer named Kaiden Wrath, then anything was possible. Like dreaming of him in trouble and knowing you’re the only one who knew how to save him. The only one who can save the Demon you are obsessed with.

Now all I had to do, was find him and then quickly save myself from… A Demon’s Wrath.

“Wrath’s Siren,” the third book in the Lost Siren Series by Stephanie Hudson, takes the saga into uncharted territories, where the line between dreams and reality blurs, and the power of words becomes a matter of life and death. This installment builds on the series’ foundation, introducing new layers of intrigue and a love that transcends the bounds of the fictional world.

The protagonist, whose journey from a simple data analyst to a key figure in a supernatural saga has been both harrowing and exhilarating, discovers an unexpected talent: the ability to bring her dreams to life through writing. Her stories, centered around Kaiden Wrath, a character of her own creation, earn her acclaim and success. However, this success comes with unforeseen consequences when she discovers that Kaiden Wrath is not a figment of her imagination but a real, living entity—a Demonic Overlord in dire need of her help.

Hudson masterfully explores the concept of creation, delving into the implications of writing about a world that intersects with reality. The protagonist’s realization that her writings have the power to influence the fate of another being adds a profound depth to the narrative, challenging her understanding of her own existence and the realms beyond her comprehension.

“Wrath’s Siren” is a thrilling exploration of the relationship between creator and creation. As the protagonist seeks to save Kaiden Wrath, she embarks on a perilous journey that tests her courage, her heart, and her soul. The bond that forms between them, born from the pages of her books, is a testament to the series’ ongoing exploration of love’s power to transcend barriers, whether they be dimensional, supernatural, or emotional.

The novel expands the Lost Siren Series’ mythology, introducing readers to new aspects of its richly conceived universe. The dynamics of the underworld, the rules governing the supernatural entities, and the role of the Sirens are further developed, providing a backdrop that is both fascinating and foreboding. Kaiden Wrath, as a character, is a compelling addition to the series—a figure of immense power and complexity, whose connection with the protagonist challenges both to confront their darkest fears and deepest desires.

Hudson’s writing shines in her ability to weave suspense, romance, and fantasy into a cohesive, engaging narrative. The tension between the protagonist and Kaiden Wrath is palpable, driving the story forward with a mix of dread and anticipation. The thematic exploration of destiny, agency, and the creative process adds layers of meaning to the story, inviting readers to ponder the implications of their own dreams and fantasies.

“Wrath’s Siren” is a captivating continuation of Stephanie Hudson’s Lost Siren Series, offering a story that is as thought-provoking as it is thrilling. With its blend of dark fantasy, romance, and a heroine who finds herself wielding an unexpected power, the novel promises to delight fans of the series and attract new readers with its unique premise and emotional depth. As the saga unfolds, the journey of the Lost Siren and her Demonic Overlord beckons readers into a world where the only limit is the breadth of one’s imagination.

The post Wrath’s Siren first appeared on Aireona.
